Google or Facebook for advertising?

Dont make the mistake of advertising on the wrong platform.

If you had $5 and wanted a customer, would you advertise on Facebook or Google?  You need to think about your customer and what they would do.

If my hot water system had broken down and I needed to fix it fast, my first thought would be to search on Google for a plumber in my area.  I would click on the first few results and see which website appealed to me.  If I saw 24/7 Plumber, Free quotes, I would probably call them first.

In the above situation you would spend your $5 on Google.

So when would you advertise on Facebook?

Say you owned a dress shop.  Most ladies love to window shop and if they see something they like and the price is right you generally have a buyer.  The buyer may of never known that type of dress was even available.

The owner of the dress shop can target it’s previous clients, their friends and ladies within a 10 km radius between 35 and 45 years of age, announcing and showing the brand new range and a call to action, to either buy online or come into the shop. This can prove to be very powerful and hence why businesses are spending billions of dollars on Facebook.

Target Market

Facebook is incredible at advertising and making your service or product known to a target market.

  • If you are a business coach you can advertise to business owners.
  • Fishing stores can target people interested in Fishing.
  • Nightclubs can target Adolescence within 10 kms.
  • Mortgage brokers can target FIFO.
  • Dating agency can target single men aged 40 to 50.
  • Function centers can target engaged couples.
  • Real Estate agents can target investors.
  • Boat mechanics can target people with interests in Boats.
  • Wineries can target wine lovers.
  • Accountant’s can target workers within 15 kms.

I think you get where I’m going with this. If you have a target audience Facebook can target your business towards them.

Paypal is a well-recognised brand.

Simple tool bar that gets to the point Buy, Sell, Send, Business and login details.  How often do you see a tool bar that has way too many choices?  If you give a customer too many choices they get indecisive and don’t choose anything.

I really like this site. You feel the experience straight away. www.skydivejurienbay.com is actually a video in the background. The contrast of “View packages button” and “Book online” really stand out and draws your eye. It tells the customer what to do without scrolling.

Work, Life, Balance what every business owner has thought about. Nice clear message, great video and straight to the point.  They also have lots of other pages which they have on the tool bar as a drop down MOREv.

The number 1 thing that changed how Consumers viewed your website for 2014

You already probably know the answer to this as I bet you have never looked at so many websites yourself on a Mobile phone.

Responsive websites automatically adjust to suit the screen you are viewing to provide a better viewing experience.

To the right is a sample of a website that is NOT responsive. You will see on a mobile you need to scroll sideways and the most important information like the phone number is not there. A sample of what the website looks like on a desktop is also shown, which looks okay.

Here are 5 reasons for your business to have a Mobile friendly website.

  1. We do individual reporting with all our clients and on average 47% of users are looking at our clients website with a mobile phone. If websites are not easily viewed and easy to navigate on the mobile this can drastically reduce conversions which means loss of business. Business is hard enough to get so we try to maximise our leads.
  2. 61% of people have a better opinion of a brand if they offer a good mobile experience. It shows the business is forward thinking up, up to date and wants the customer to have everything at their finger tips.
  3. Having an easy to see clickable phone number so customers can ring you instantly is a must. The phone ringing is the life blood of many businesses.
  4. If you are looking for good rankings on Google, responsive is better. If Google says so then we just adhere. There is more to it than that but trust us on this, you can check out more on the Google developers website https://developers.google.com/webmasters/mobile-sites/

Mobile usage will increase this year. If your website is not responsive you could those lose even more clients to the opposition.

The media consumer survey reveals that the number of smartphone users in Australia has increased by 21% in the last three years and now stands at 81%.
